Day 18
Didn't manage a pic for ILP today (must try harder...sorry!)
However, we were excited about this:
18/365 - We were excited to receive our complimentary copy of the book that used an old, but favoured photo of Jamie as a baby. Hard to believe that the little scrap in that bed is the same child as the boy holding the book. He's my little hero!

Back story: J was born on time after a nice boring pregnancy. He has been under a hospital since he was 2 weeks old for various reasons, prolonged jaundice, UTI's, failure to thrive, severe eczema. He was quite a sickly baby but no-one could put their finger on why despite being hospitalised twice for tests and investigations. In the end it was decided to send his to Birmingham Children's hospital to be seen by their heart unit as he had a murmur. At 9 months he was diagnosed with a "significant heart defect" and he had open heart surgery a week later. The pic used in the book was taken the day after his surgery.
He's been doing great heart wise ever since. Fingers crossed for his next appt in April! Sure, he has lots of other little quirks, food allergies (starting to grow out of some...yay!) and speech delays, but he is mine and I love him, quirks and all. I thank my lucky stars EVERY SINGLE DAY as I know far too many people who's children have not been so lucky : (
The pic was chosen when I had attached it to a post on a charity forum I use. The editor of the book saw the photo and asked if she could possibly use it for the book, asked that I got J's permission. I gave verbal & written permission. I am more than happy for the pic to be used (no matter how much it makes me cry every time I look at it) as the book is designed to be given to parents who have received a new diagnosis for their child or during their pregnancy by the hospital. It is available to buy through the charity too.

Day 16
Day 15
Darn excercise, I pulled a muscle in my neck/shoulder, it hurts to lift my arms for long, so scrapped my idea for a photo today. I snapped my tea instead as it looked quite nice, better than my usually sloppily thrown together affairs

Now, I admit I was really looking forward to learning what this coming week's theme would be on ILP, especially as I made no resolutions and it has been a dready, grey and miserable week in the UK, so no sun pics to speak of. Now I am totally bummed as I just found out it's "in the garden" It is still bleak and miserable here, still no sun, my garden is waterlogged from the melted snow and now it's raining, it's covered in rabbit poo and everything is brown & dead. It is the middle of winter here. I need to check out next weeks theme on the ILP blog, it was crying/sadness last/this week and I haven't managed a shot of that either. MUST try harder today, lol!
Good thing I have a flickr 365 group to keep me motivated. I guess I should continue with SP Monday and try and take more candid shots this week.

Day 14
I have 2 pics.
This one I took for ILP's SUN:
The sun tried really, really hard to break through the gloom today. I noticed it looked a tiny bit brighter and ran to get my camers, alas, it was far too cloudy for any sun burst or flare. The best i could get was a few weak rays

The one I took for my flickr group of one of the hyacinths I recieved as a christmas gift from the boys.

Day 11
Self portrait Monday I think I will call it! I will see how I feel next monday to decide if it should be a regular thing.
So today I realised how hard it is to take a photo of myself, I am always behind the camera that I just felt silly and awkward. Plus I have a lazy eye and it looks so much worse if I try and smile, plus it looked so fake, lol!
Anyway, here was 1 I didn't mind, I ran portraiture quite lightly as I didn't want to look too smooth and false. Now I can't chose between colour, B&W or Irish breakfast tea.

B&W

Irish Breakfast Tea action (who the heck came up with that name? Oh yeah, I think it was a coffeshop action, would explain the title!)

Day 9
I quite like how this came out. I have started a "daydream fund", and any loose change and the odd bit of money I get as gifts is going into my piggy bank so one day I might have a reasonable chunk to put towards one of these babys. I expect it will take me YEARS, but I like having a goal. Plus, by the time I get there my photography might be good enough to justify me having such a nice piece of kit.

Day 7
I made no resolutions, but know that I need to make the most of any opportunity that arises. Today I went out and stupidly only had my kit lens with me, and what did I stumble across? A fox! I don't see many around here. I did the best I could with the kit I had with me. I definitely learned a lesson, be prepared!

Day 6
J was quite cooperative for a few minutes and allowed me to direct him. It had been snowing a few minutes before and stopped, the effect looked lovely in that light. So I stood J just under some branches of a tree on his right and got hubby to shake the branches gently to dislodge the snow to make it look like it was snowing. I liked this background and snow effect the best, but preferred J's expression on another shot, so then had to swap his head from the other shot. Lots of work, but I quite like it, blown spots and all! Who knew shooting in snow could be so hard?!

Day 4
My pic for today is no work of art, is NOT technically correct and has no eye contact, but I keep trying to remind myself that snapshots are just as important as "portraits" and arty shots. It's shots like this I will look back on with a smile on my face.
This is my youngest ds2 (almost 14 months). I turned my back for a second and returned to find this:
